I retained Cindy C Kliever in early December with a $4,000.00 retainer. She happily accepted my payment, but did nothing regarding my case. Now with less than a month to go before court, I have called repeatedly but received no return phone call. I've also emailed and received nothing regarding the emails sent. I have now emailed and asked for my retainer back, but after reading the other reviews I don't think I'll be getting it back without a fight and definitely not with enough time to hire other representation. I do not recommend this attorney. I have filed a misconduct report with the California State Bar and will be learning how to get my money returned through small claims court. Save your money, your time and your peace of mind... Hire someone else.
This law office are very unprofessional. The present conflicting information or no information at all. Their itemized billing statements are inaccurate. They never return my call unless they felt threatened. They are never in their office. They now have answering service that are oblivious and all to not have to speak to you personally!! I'm going to file a legal/formal complaint through the BARR. I encourage anyone who has delt with these people and have had negative results to call and file. They have done no justice for anyone but themselves!!
I went to this attorney under the recommendation of the family law facilitators for Kings County. I needed an attorney to fight for custody of my child and I had a limited amount of income at the time. I went to this attorney who has a $100 consultation fee for an hr and I explained my case to him and decided to hire him shortly after for $3500.00 To avoid going into details, I will summarize my decision as being unfortunately regrettable. If you are eligible for a court filing fee waiver take advantage of it because the attorneys will not. Also, if you need to get a restraining order due to domestic violence seek help from KCAO ( they do it free of charge), because the attorney I spoke with instructed me to not file it for free and then later charged me for the law office filing one on my behalf. I hired the man as my lawyer but spoke mainly with his wife; I had no problem with this arrangement, however, the man would not be aware of documents I had already turned into his wife or legal aids and would tell me I needed to retrieve them again. Furthermore, the male attorney would not bring pertinent evidence to court that I would email him and told me to hold onto information that would help my case until I no longer had the info available. Also, the retainer free I gave this law firm was depleted in one month without the lawyer I hired ever making a single court appearance. As a matter of fact, the very first court appearance my lawyer made, he asked me for $2500.00 more dollars. This all occurred in a matter of two months. I'm sure these are nice people, but it's solely my opinion that they care more about the money than the client. I strongly encourage any one going through a divorce to seek a paralegal to file your petition or response and if it's contested do a lot of research before you pick a lawyer. Remember it's your money being spent in the end.
Ms. Kliever took our money promising she would assist us in filing an emergency order. After that not happening and spending almost a month attempting to get her on the phone, she finally called my husband back ONCE and tried to make excuses and convince him to let her file although the emergency was past and he politely told her no, as he had said in emails and messages he wanted to release her and get our retainer back since nothing was ever done on our behalf and she said OK and at the scheduled meeting I had made in am attempt to get her in person the following week we could resolve this. She did not show for the appointment and now over a week later is still avoiding phone calls, emails, and we obviously have not received our retainer back. Do not retain her as your lawyer unless you want your time and money wasted.
I would list zero stars if allowed! Don’t trust your money with either Richard or wife Cindy Crose-Kliever they were attorneys on my case. They take bribes! Real phonies!!! They blew my case without doing any research and never appeared in court for me costing me almost $10,000! Richard subbed out left me high and dry I did receive a little over $200.00 back, refused to give me all of my files until he copied them. Even copying my files they were so screwed up. He caused me to lose temporary support putting my case behind others cases! I went 6 months without any temporary support! The staff gave me wrong information for over 10 months! Richard said I was a difficult client because I asked too many questions!!!!
