Reviews

The law is a complex situation, unfortunately some people don’t understand how it works. They rely on their lawyers to guide their clients through this process. Mr Kolman, had passed my case on to his associate, who doesn’t work at this law firm anymore.

In february 2001, I called Kolman law after a bad experience with another firm who charged us $350 an hour. Kolman law informed me that litigation is expensive and it should not be billed hourly and our contract with the other firm contained alot of smoke and mirrors. I filled out the intake form and sent all required documentation. I also received a proposal for a fee agreement. I was told at Kolman Law they select what clients they take because they are more like family and care about their clients. In Mid April we received the finalized fee agreement contract. Finally, On June 21,2021 I recieved the directions I needed to make a payment. I made a $5,000 payment and asked when I could speak with Mr. Kolman to discuss our next steps. Within minutes I received a phone call from Mr. Kolman Stating he wasn't sure we wanted to proceed with our case because I had not made a payment per our contract. I then informed him I had been trying to and have left multiple messages on directions on how to make a payment. Once the directions were sent to me I made a payment within hours. He apologized and said he would review our documents and get back to me. July- I called for updates but received no correspondence. August- I called for an update but Mr. Kolman wanted to meet in person to discuss his determination of our case. On August 16th, after driving over two hours to meet with him, I received a phone call from the office at 1:14 pm that I was not able to enter the office because I was not fully vaccinated. I pulled into the parking lot at Kolman Law at 1:23 pm. I spoke with Mr. Kolman over the phone while he looked at me through the window. He recused himself from representing us because I was not vaccinated. He then apologized and assured me he would return our $5,000 payment and wished us luck. September , October , November... no correspondence from the office. December- finally spoke with a human and was told that the check would be mailed by the end of the week. January- no check and no correspondence February 2, 2022- almost a year after inquiring about representation and 6 months since he recused himself, we were no where closer to an outcome. I called the office and started I was going to the bank to revoke the $5,000 since they were incapable of returning it. I then received an invoice from Kolman Law for $4,116.67 . Per the invoice we were billed at $650 AN HOUR for 3 emails and 6 hours of Mr. Kolman reading documents. We also received a check via overnight delivery for $2,500. When I called and questioned the invoice after being told all of our money would be returned, I was told he lost us as clients due to no fault of his own because I refused to get vaccinated And with that being said he should be compensated for the time he spent reviewing our documents. We were told to be grateful we received anything back.

My employment case, was, to say the least, complicated. After meeting with me to discuss the details of the case in person, Mr. Kolman agreed to take my case himself. It was an honour and a privilege to work with him. He is distinguished, professional yet witty, highly intelligent and remarkably brilliant at what he does. If you do your part, he and the entire firm will fight for you. Everyone I worked with was great. Kolman Ely is a very professional firm and they do not back down or become intimidated under any circumstances. If you need the best employment legal team to help you, this is the firm to call. I rate them 5-stars, but only because 20-stars isn't an option! The absolute best.

I spoke with an Attorney regarding one of my case, A lawyer gave us free consultation over the phone and guided us genuinely what needs to be done in that case instead of ripping us off like other lawyers. If you want a lawyer who is helpful and interested in solving a matter and proper advice, go to them. You would not find such people anywhere in USA. my Hats off to the lawyer who gave genuine advice to us in free. What mechanic will teach you how to repair car and save money this way ? He was that kinda. He was that person who cared about people's problem, not money.

Very unhappy with this office. I spoke with someone who stated she was a paralegal however, she did not have knowledge on the process of suing my employer. She refused to tell me what the steps are in the lawsuit and how long the process could take. I asked to speak with someone else and was told the only other person in the office for support staff was someone named Cat. She again was less than helpful as she really had no knowledge of what the lawsuit entails. She did tell me she sued 3 previous employers over the years and I am doing the right thing. It came out that Mr. Kolman represented her in 2 lawsuits and she lost both. They are now dating and she helps at the office. With that being said , she is not even a paralegal let alone have a degree. I did get a call back from a nice young attorney and he asked me to fill out intake form . Which of course I did not receive . Several weeks later Mr. Kolman called me back sayinb he was the attorney on call . He spent several minutes on the phone with me not listening to what I had to say and only wanted to know what he was asking . He then pushed me back to the first woman I spoke with who was at times difficult to understand . When I asked if she would be able to get my questions answered about lawsuit time frame etc she said I already told you why do you need to hear it again . Needless to say I found this ignorant, disrespectful and extremely unprofessional. After speaking with several neighbors , associates , family and friends I found out I was far from alone in my opinion. Sadly , that is why this firm is not supported or used my 95% of the people within local area (within 30 minutes) even the business (small)will not use this firm anymore. At one time they had a much better reputation and this was based on the work of Mr.Kolmans partner Mr.Ely from my understanding and research . Mr. Kolman should definitely retire before he encounters more legal malpractice lawsuits and ruins the reputation of the other 1 or 2 attorneys he has on board .
