Law Office of James F. Berl, PC

We have used Mr. Berl’s office for the purchase of our property in Hilton Head and found his staff to be very organized and professional. When we were selling that property, we even referred our purchasers to him. Three weeks before closing, the purchasers, without our consent, began to store their personal property on our premises. Not wanting to involve the authorities or damage my relationship with them, I brought this to Mr. Berl’s attention. He agreed wholeheartedly their actions were inappropriate and a hold harmless agreement should be in place to protect all parties and property. The agreement was never drawn by his office, and his clients kept their belongings on our property until closing. I feel that it was his fiduciary responsibility to advise his clients accordingly and protect their (and our) interests. Luckily for us all, the place wasn’t struck by lightning. For what should have been a simple and amicable agreement, it was three weeks of unnecessary stress and angst. As I result of this unfortunate circumstance, I can no longer recommend this law office.

James Berl is honest and really cares about his clients. He is part of.the Hilton Head community. Whenever anyone asks for an attorney he is first on my list of recommendations

Make sure you read your reviews before selecting an attorney for your closing! Jim Berl did not do ANY of his buyers paperwork before he was supposed to close on our house. Fortunately, our attorney Ashley Brown figured it out beforehand, but not in time for us all to close in time. Not only did we lose our movers because we had to change the closing day to later in the week, but he also charged US $30 to wire our attorney after his mistake. She fought for us, just out of principle, but he actually refused. She said she has never seen this happen before in her career. Unprofessional, and inefficient.
