I am excited to have the opportunity to talk to you about my long time friend and colleague Troy A. Smith. I first met Troy approximately 9 years ago when we were both prosecutors in the District Attorney's Office of Bronx County. Even then Troy distinguished himself as a fearless trial attorney. After rising through the ranks of the District Attorney's Office and prosecuting some of the most serious murder and violent felony cases in the District Attorney’s Office, Troy left to pursue a career in the private sector, helping the less fortunate fight for their rights in the criminal justice system. Soon after I left my post as legal counsel to the New York City Police Department and started my own firm, Troy and I teamed up to defend a Bronx homicide in the case of the People of the State of New York v. Dale Robertson in which Mr. Robertson was charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Manslaughter in the First and Second Degree.
