If you are a first time buyer I would recommend going with a different attorney. I decided to proceed forward with Michael as my attorney based on the many great reviews that he has. However I am saddened to say that my experience was far inferior to that of others and if I could do it again I would pick a different attorney. I have no doubts that Michael is knowledgeable and had a lot of experience however I believe he is taking on many a deals, maybe too many at one time and that leads to diluted attention to the client. Below are some of my experiences: 1) Being a first time buyer as you can imagine i was very involved in the process. Every time I asked him questions on the contract or the process i felt his patience dwindling down. He never sat me down to explain the full contract to me and it was up to me to review what the lawyers had written without advise from my legal council and draw my own conclusions and flag the items that did not make sense to me. Every time i reached out to him i got the feeling that i was bothering him. 2) I found that if I was not driving and pushing the process we would have missed critical deadlines. For instance we almost missed my closing deadline as their office did not coordinate appropriately with my bank on the exact closing date. I also had to repeatedly follow up on many of the steps through the process and if i did not then they would go to the wind. 3) He arbitrarily increased the fees that i was being charged and this went against the contract i signed with him. His response was to elude that his office had to do more work for this deal (even though this was standard sale and i believe it was due to me asking more questions). I would suggest he change his pricing model to an hourly rate rather than a flat fee. 4) Through the process i felt that he did not have any familiarity with my sale and any nuances associated with it and I had to consistently remind him. This did not instill the highest degree of confidence. Ultimately i am certain folks have had different experiences but i just wanted to share mine.
My husband and I can't recommend Mike and his team enough! We had a positive and smooth home buying experience with his assistance, and he's been there for us in a pinch as legal circumstances have arisen regarding our property now as home owners. We recently had something come up with our property line and he replied to my email with a phone call within 5 min and offered fantastic guidance. Our situation was resolved almost instantly! It’s very rare to find a lawyer who is good and doesn’t overcharge. Michael and Asya are GREAT and were upfront with pricing and stuck to their word. If you need a real estate attorney, you don’t need to look anywhere else. Couldn’t recommend them enough. Thank you for smoothly handling two transactions for me!
Michael is not your average attorney. He is sharp, honest, passionate, intellectual, transparent, and really wants to help his clients without ripping them off. In one word, he his trustworthy.
