This man intentionally spreads false and misleading information to sway political issues. His actions are opposed to the Missouri Rules of Professional Conduct and should be disbarred. Rule 4-8.4(c) prohibits conduct involving “dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation.” If an attorney knowingly spreads false information about legal issues, it could be considered deceitful. Rule 4-3.3 requires lawyers to be truthful in their communications, especially when representing legal facts. Misleading the public with legal misstatements could fall under this rule if it’s found to impact the public’s understanding of the law.
