SDGE electrical service sucks. Been living here in SanClemente two months and the power has gone out FOUR times. I lived in Anaheim for 35 years, and I bet our power only went out four times in all those years.

I have contacted SDGE several times to fix a street lamppost light , they are telling me 3-4 months. I have several children and elderly people on my street. It is not safe to walk on my own street. Vehicles that come down the street can't see anyone. We also have coyotes, so walking our own pets is a problem. It is pure neglect, and putting everyone in danger.

Customer service is decent when you can get someone on the line. But that is the hard part. Their phone menu system is a nightmare and if your issue doesn't fit one of the few options you'll find yourself going round and round in the menus without ever reaching a live person.

I’ve lived all over the US and SDGE is both the worst and the most expensive power service I’ve ever had. In the last 24 hours we have had power for only 10.5 hours. These were not rolling blackouts but ‘equipment failures’. For the extortionate rates we pay here this archaic invester-owned utility (the business model is from the late 19th century!) should be able to maintain the necessary equipment. I hear there is a move afoot to create a public power utility for San Diego. Do it. In my experience — in Florida and Nebraska — public power offers both the best service and the best rates. Privatization is all about profits for shareholders. Profits should be reinvested in equipment upgrades and renewables.

After listening to a constant barrage of commercials basically telling us not to use any electricity between 4 and 9, it appears to me that Sempra is no longer capable of supplying us with reliable and affordable electricity, and it is my opinion that Sempra should turn our SDGE power grid over to a more viable utility company that is a little better equipped at supplying the power needs to the residents of San Diego county. I have just recently returned back to the county so I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but It is also my understanding that Sempra is or will raise our electric rates for electricity during those hours that we need it most, in the afternoon and in the evening, and I'm no scientist, but isn't that about the time we benefit from all that solar and wind power that we as Southern Californian ratepayers have invested so much money into?
