We are so very fortunate to have found Starla! She has went above and beyond for our family. Wish we would have found you sooner! We live hours away and she always makes things as painless as possible. Divorce is such a tragedy for any family especially with young children involved. Add a disgruntled Ex and it's even worse! Thank you so very much!

Starla and her assistant Polly are top notch. Facing a somewhat messy divorce, Starla simplified everything and fought for me until the end. She doesn't play games, is very matter of fact, but yet is caring and attentive. You will not regret retaining her!

Include Starla Zehr on your list of slated divorce attorney consultations if that situation has presented itself in your life and you live in Oakland County, Michigan. Whether you are filing against a soon-to-be-ex or defending yourself against one, she will explain what you could be potentially facing and, depending on what YOU ultimately decide on, what that could cost you in the end. When I was confused about something, she provided clarification I could understand. Particularly when it came to things like child support and parenting time scheduling, which was a bit daunting for me. My ex is a child support accountant with the county FOC office (fun!) so I needed someone knowledgeable to keep things on-level and in check. nnWhen I tried filing for divorce DIY-style a number of years back with my first husband (who was out of state in George while I was in MI), let me tell you, it was not an easy process. I was recently laid off at the time and still did not qualify for the pro bono Legal Aid lawyer option. I attended the program overseen by one of the local law schools & I could not wrap my head around the do-it-yourself filing process. I gave up & then the 1st husband subsequently died, so it worked itself out in the end.nnThat whole experience provided a valuable and eye-opening contrast when I ended up needing to hire a solid divorce attorney for the second go-around. It seriously is best to hire a lawyer when the marriage break up situation presents itself. I cannot tell you how awesome it was to outsource a good portion of my divorce stress to a seasoned pro who actually signed up & went to school to do precisely that.nnStarla Zehr and her office manager / paralegal, Polly, were great throughout the entire process of my divorce. Kind, considerate, informative, responsive and ready to defend. I liked that their Waterford, MI office was close to the courthouse in Pontiac as well. Trust me, I was not in a position where I could readily afford an attorney, but after finalizing the whole experience recently, you absolutely CANNOT go without representation. Take on an extra job if you have to in the short term. Making my divorce lawyer payments was/is right up there with paying my rent. That is how valuable and essential it is when you are facing the unknown & want security for you (and your kids') future. I know I wanted everything on paper so I would eliminate the need to argue needlessly with the ex.nnEven if you don't feel prepared to file, exploring your divorce options is in your best interests when things seem to be on shaky ground. A simple consultation can provide a whole lot of insight in terms of preparation and strategy for when you ARE ready. When I initially met with Starla, she opened my eyes to several things I absolutely did not know about or had even considered. When I finally gathered up the cash for the retainer via a tax refund, Starla always presented me with all my options along with consideration of the end-cost, my budget, & my situation with 2 small children to make the best informed decision for myself. When I did not understand something, she explained it. When I got confused over something that developed and changed along the way, she re-clarified. She was tough with me (& others) when she needed to be, yet had understanding and compassion when it was warranted and needed. He11, she even got my ex to cover some of my attorney fees. You can't beat that with a bat. :-)nnIn the end, I feel like I got a settlement that worked for me, my kids, and my particular life situation. And all for what I could realistically afford. Certainly, if you have the dough to go to town and nail the ex to the wall for the truth, justice and FUN of it all, I am sure she and Polly can work that out for you, too. It all depends on how much you and your ex want to drag the divorce process out, ultimately.nnWhen you are ready to take that ring off and see how much the local pawn shop will give you for it, your next serious step should be to call Polly or Starla up and book that free consult. You'll be glad you did.
