I spent hours researching a family law attorney to help me with custody for my infant daughter. I found Sutton Law Firm on Avvo and was very impressed by their glowing reviews. I contacted them and set up an initial phone consultation with Debra Sutton for $250. My appointment was for a phone consultation for 3pm. At 2:55pm I was contacted by her paralegal and told she was running late and would call me as soon as she could break away. Finally at 3:42pm (42 minutes late) I received a call. I was very patient and understanding. I explained the situation that I was in, asked for advice/opinions and truly got nothing valuable. I don’t think I received any advice that I hadn’t already researched on my own. I was told several times throughout the call “you just answered your own question”. Clearly I am not a lawyer or I wouldn’t be seeking legal advice. I seriously feel like I wasted $250 of my money for nothing. The entire call was no help to me and I was very disappointed. I was then told if I wanted to pursue legal action it would be a minimum of a $2500 retainer. I am still confused as to what my next steps are. I’m very sad that I wasted money and time and really actually feel worse than I did before the consultation. I totally regret this consultation.
