I would not recommend hiring these lawyers, Hillel Schechter and Jeff Levy. At the beginning of this year I was named Trustee & Executor of my cousin’s estate and I really needed guidance. My cousin left all his money to charity, so it was my responsibility to manage things properly. They assured me they had experience with Trusts & Estates, but after 8 months and almost $27,000 spent, little was accomplished & I finally had to find a qualified attorney. Since I hired them through the recommendation of a friend I tried to make it work, even though it became apparent they had little experience in the Trust work I needed. After they billed thousands for hours and hours of what they called “research” they still could not give me definitive answers about my case. So I left. When they transferred their work to my new attorney I first discovered that they never actually filed for probate, which they had told me they did. And not only that—they actually billed me for filing fees! As a result, the probate date will be further delayed, I paid for services not rendered and I will have to pay again to file probate. My new attorney must redo mistakes and complete that process—which they told me all along takes up to 9 months in Nassau County. I have lost precious time & the estate’s money for services I did not receive. I wish Schechter and Levy had been honest enough to admit to me that they didn’t have the experience to handle my case.
