I contacted Mr Kim after receiving a citation for a traffic incident, the details of which I strongly dispute. I reached him directly on my first call and he took the time to explain the details of the laws in question in my case, how they applied to my circumstances, as well as the potential penalties involved. He also gave advice on how to proceed with my case which, surprisingly, was not to retain/involve an attorney. Throughout the course of our conversation Mr Kim was very helpful and professional and, as this was an initial consultation, provided all advice without charge. I would definitely consult with him again for any future traffic-related legal issues.

Wayne is a professional counsel that will guide you and narrow the evidence to exactly what is needed for a trial victory. I was charged with a traffic violation and the city judge found me guilty after very vague testimony from the city prosecutor. Knowing that the law was on my side and the law completely contradicts prosecutorial statements, Wayne proceeded to research case precedent and found a VA Supreme Court decision that was directly on point. The decision reaffirmed VA traffic law, completely nullified the prosecutor’s arguments, and most importantly, convinced the circuit judge to overturn the city judge’s decision. From our first meeting with him, he was prepared and understood all of the angles of our case, both good and bad. I would like to take a moment in state this review is based off his ability as my "public defender". I had a case in Virginia back in 2012 and was appointed Wayne Kim as my public defender. Prior to this I had NO criminal record. The case "breaking and entering" at MY mothers house. Scenario I went back to where I resided and "opened the basement door and retrieved my belongings including a dd214 which was the main reason". Shortly after this police were called and stated I entered without permission. Upon speaking with wayne kim during my time in jail, I had explained to Wayne Kim, I had no previous criminal record, I explained I had a huge mental illness history dating back to the age of 5. Causing impulsive behaviors and affecting my judgement. I asked him also why my case was still continuing when it was originally a family case and went to circuit court. He didnt provide full details. During this time, I was expecting mr kim to provide sufficient evidence of my mental illness and the fact it was my mother during my hearing . During the hearing none of the details i asked him to present to the judge were presented, I was convicted. Looking back on this case I find it very disappointing he didn't fight better for me. I would have preferred self representation over his ability to provide facts and a good defense. My next ecounter with wayne kim was for a probation violation in which I the PROBATION office failed to keep in contact with due to several case managers replacing my original PO officer. I had no criminal activities while on Probation and when I was 4 months away from completing my probation I was violated. I willing turned myself in and followed all laws. I was once again represented by wayne kim who happened to be there during my initial appearance before a judge and the judge assigning me again to him. I was once again left in the hands of someone who said he had a lot of "experience" and "knew the system", but as before with his inability to provide the full facts during the hearings I was once again detained and sentenced. After providing all my evidence to wayne kim about my where about during the time the probation didnt contact me, my attempts to contact my old PO, and emails, of which none where presented to the judge. I would stay far away from this lawyer. I have had the opportunity to be represented by public defenders who put in time and present my case in a way that is true defense on much worse offenses and walked away because they provided the details and evidence correctly and fought for me. I wouldn't recommend him as a public defender, even as a paid representative I wouldn't. This is my experience and based on that I have written a review.

I hired him for a case dealing with landlord verbal dispute on phone. Mr. Wayne represented me in my case – but I was very disappointed with his knowledge, professionalism and seriousness toward my case. It seems to me Mr. Wayne was more interested in compensation than defending my case. If you are hiring him, please make sure to read the entire contract carefully a number of times or a get professional help. I wish if I can give him less than 1 star.
