I recently have been working with Karen for mediation and a custody battle of my 9yo daughter, who’s father has not been involved much at all until recently. I was so relieved that Karen was able to see through all the lies, charm and BS shows my daughters father put out and his ridiculous requests. Going into mediation, I was not sure what to expect and was terrified my daughter would be blindly put into the hands of an essential stranger (her father) for extremely long periods of time, but Karen really proved she knew her stuff. She is personable, knowledgeable and patient. I truly truly felt like she listened and cared about my daughters well-being...and for the outcome she was able to help provide on her behalf, I am eternally grateful and thankful.

Although we didn't reach an agreement during mediation, I feel that my concerns were heard and addressed by the mediator. Ms. Vervaecke was very professional!

If I could give zero stars, I would. This woman made a snap judgement on me based on a short conversation and she did not get to know my kids or really hear them as a GAL. She continuously let my ex husband speak for my daughter, and she perpetuated an abusive situation with her inability to reach out to friends, family, and teachers or to do home visits. She spoke out against me with nothing but her private conversations with my ex to substantiate her claims. I feel sorry for her--it's really tragic to be that one-sided and blind in modern times and to work to alienate a child from her siblings and mother.

Karen was my mediator and later my attorney. She is caring, fair, extremely organized and knows her stuff. Every question I had was answered promptly and explained clearly. I really felt like she cared about me and never felt rushed or that I was a bother to her. Her heart is just as incredible as her knowledge of the law. I feel so lucky to have found her during the most difficult time of my life. She is one in a million.

Karen went to court for me once and kept my entire retainer and quit.
