I am an attorney. I shopped around for landlord/tenant lawyers in Chicago. Most of them tried to take advantage of me and were angry when I asked legitimate questions about the law. However, Villalobos & Associates welcomed my questions and explained everything to me. From my personal experience, Mark Villalobos is the BEST landlord/tenant lawyer out there! Mark is SUPER smart and extremely knowledgeable about Illinois State Law and Chicago City Ordinances regarding Landlord-Tenant issues. Mr villalobos represented my brother on his first “criminal” case which he now advertises himself as a criminal lawyer…mr villalobos NEVER fought for my brother NEVER objected against the DA and was often falling asleep when in court

I would not recommend Villalobos-- AT ALL. My brother hired him as his lawyer and working with this lawyer and the receptionists/secretaries was not easy. This lawyer won’t do the bare minimum. You better hope you don’t miss the office calling you because they’ll claim they called you many times—even though they never leave a voicemail or call your secondary number. (I was the secondary number and never received a call or a voicemail). This lawyer only cares about money and he acts like you owe him something or like he’s doing you a favor. A lawyer needs to be on time but he takes his time and when he shows up late he doesn’t apologize for it. When you do call him out for that he blatantly blames the client or brushes you off. Doesn’t give a timely notice when it comes to payments. Definitely in it for the easy money—seems to prolong the case. He takes advantage of your misfortune.
