W David Scales Law Office

Overall the people in the office were very nice. From start to finish, my case took about 6 months. I felt that it took a lot longer than it should have but none the less it was done. I was not impressed by Mr. Scales but I didn't see much of him. I was however very impressed by his paralegal Nicole. She made herself very aware of my case quickly and made sure that my case was taken to court as it had been taking way too long. Thank you, Nicole, for all your hard work on getting my case wrapped up. You're a great asset to this office.

This firm is truly a disappointment, unethical, unprofessional, and very good at neglecting there clients. I hired W. David Scales in March 2021 for a modification of custody, I paid him upfront. He put in a motion in May 6, after that I have not been able to reach the firm, the paralegal nor the attorney. I live out of state, but all my legal matters are in Texas. The last time I spoke to Scales was like for 2 mins, he answered the phone and he clearly said “am I suppose to pay you, who is this?” And when I stated my name and the reason for my call his answer was “ this is not a good time, I don’t have your case in front of me, I am not at the office, try another time” I asked what time would be best for him? he stated “maybe after lunch”. I called back the same day multiple times, they never answered the phone. I called back the next day and the answering machine changed. The answering machine now says “if you are a former client of ours, we will be contacting you through letter.” I have complained to the Texas Bar Association for negligence and failed to deliver the contract David Scales presented me and agreed upon. I took a flight from Raleigh Nc 07/18/21 to reach Bell County to try to find Scales and he is no where to be found. I have spent so much money trying to reach this attorney and he is a complete fraud. I cannot believe that I paid him all upfront and he failed to deliver the agreement. I am concerned and very disappointed of the time and money I have given this firm and all they have done is lied, taken my money, and they don’t care about my case at all.

If you are looking for an overpriced attorney that will have no problem taking your money, and never following through, then this is the office for you. I retained David Scales in September 2017 (paid $5800) for a child support modification and transfer of jurisdiction. It’s now almost July 2019 and I still have not met the man and it seems like he has no intention of closing out my case. I signed an agreement when I retained David that laid out the financial terms. After a year of no updates on my case, I was informed that the paralegal that gave me said agreement was not actually authorized to give it to me in the first place and that they would not move forward until my balance was paid in full. I paid the balance and 6 months later I received a call stating again that I needed to pay my balance before they would finalize my case. I’ve had to show proof of payment twice since then and the case is still open. We had a court date scheduled last month that I had to cancel because financial discovery has still not been done. How would you recalculate child support without this??? With the exception of Nicole, their newest paralegal (this is the fifth one since I hired them), this office is incompetent and unprofessional. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Texas State Bar Association.

Do not go with them! I hired mr scales back in November (it is now April) for a custody case. It was agreed to pay him monthly until tax return came in. I asked his paralegal to inform him of a few things and to advice me on what I should do about it. I never heard back and when I asked again, she said she had forgotten and promised to let him know. After that I had tried time and time again to contact them to no avail. They were never available when needed. My son's father and I has since come to an agreement ourselves (thank goodness) and both him, I, and his attorney had tried to contact them to no avail. When the paralegal finally reached out by email 4 months later, she claimed I had not paid for 4 months and that I needed to do that. I told her I will not be paying and that I need them to withdraw from the case immediately. She made it a point to tell the judge the reason was due to me not paying as agreed. This is the worst experience I have ever had with an attorney! Dont make the same mistake i did. Update: I finally recieved the papers that showed they put in a motion to withdraw and, included in the paperwork, was a part of his contract with another of his clients!!! It stated the clients name, type of court case, and how much the client was to pay him! Unprofessional at best.

Was anybody able to get ahold of this firm or Scales? He took my money upfront and did nothing with my case. I really just want my personal files that they said they were going to make copies of but never did. Their voicemail is a bit unusual now, I’m assuming they closed shop or health issues popped up with Scales. The man didn’t look too healthy the few times I spoke to him. The voicemail states a letter, has anybody received one of their letters?
