Happily stumbled across the HQ! Sadly due to the pandemic I wasn't able to see the dragon.
No public access. I just wanted to know where they made the magic happen. Some town near Seattle called Renton (sp?).
As a deeply enfranchised player of both D&D and Magic: The Gathering, I decided to stop by the nerd Mecca this morning on my vacation to the Seattle area, not expecting to even get in. COVID-19 restrictions and the fact the offices were nearly empty had my expectations set very low. I figured I would take a couple pictures outside and just leave. Enter Lance at the security desk. He could have told us to go away and honestly, I would have been ok with that. Instead, he called his boss and got permission to bring us up to the 4th floor so we could meet Mitzi, the legendary dragon who guards the lobby. We were allowed to take a few pictures and even got some swag on our way out. To say that he made our experience magical is as true as it is cliché.
Ken probably paid thousand’s of dollars buying tons of Alpha & Beta booster packs in 1993 when mtg started. I wish I knew what he once had. I’m sure he had every one of 295 cards just from Alpha alone
