I am a managing partner and trial attorney with the law firm of Aiken & O'Halloran. I have lived in Fort Myers since 1973. After graduating from Bishop Verot High School in 1992, I went on to receive my undergraduate degree from The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. I completed law school in 1999 and was admitted to the Florida Bar in April of 2000. I began my professional career at the local State Attorney's Office, prosecuting numerous misdemeanor and felony cases. I first handled misdemeanor cases in Charlotte County, including misdemeanor DUI's, domestic violence batteries, petit thefts, driver's license offenses, and fish and game violations. I tried dozens of cases in Charlotte County and eventually took over the juvenile prosecutor's position before moving to take on felony matters in Fort Myers. After three years gaining experience and perfecting my trial skills at the State Attorney's office, together with my partner, I established the criminal defense firm of Aiken & O'Halloran. Established in 2004, our firm continues to represent individuals charged with all types of State and Federal criminal offenses. I am committed to providing the utmost in service to our clients. In doing so, I recognize the importance of utilizing every available resource. At Aiken & O'Halloran, we often elicit the services of a private investigator who has a background in law enforcement. The investigator can take statements on our client's behalf. He can question witnesses involved in the arrest and can uncover and collect evidence to support appropriate defenses. The weight of the information and details discovered through the investigative process can prove immeasurable in my preliminary conversations with the prosecutor. In presenting this defensive evidence to the prosecutor, I am often able to negotiate a resolution to a reduced charge and a more reasonable sentence. It is even possible to resolve the case without charges ever being filed. In the event that negotiations with the State do not provide results deemed acceptable, our teams' extensive trial experience comes into play in the courtroom to elicit the best possible outcome for our clients.
