About Fred
Fred has tried or settled many matters in excess of $1 million and in 2006, he and his partner, Troy Stafford, obtained a settlement of over $10 million for an injured client. In 2013, Fred obtained a $ 1.5 million insurance bad faith verdict, and together with another firm, received a verdict of $9 million in a wrongful death action involving three deaths. In 2017, Fred, Will DeVore and Derek Adler settled a personal injury matter for over $7 million dollars.*
A national publication known as “Best Lawyers in America” named Fred as “2018 Lawyer of the Year – Personal Injury” which is an honor based entirely on the vote of his peers. In 2015, Charlotte Magazine named identified Fred as one of the top 100 trial attorneys in North Carolina and in the top 25 in Charlotte.
Additionally, Fred is frequent lecturer to various bar and judicial organizations, focusing on issues ranging from trial tactics to insurance bad faith. He has authored articles in both the Wake Forest Law Review and the South Carolina Law Review and Trial Briefs.
He is President of the Executive Board of the Mecklenburg County Bar. He is formerly the chairman of the Mecklenburg County Grievance Committee and he currently serves on the Disciplinary Hearing Commission for the State Bar.
