James A. Fisher is a shareholder and President of the Vandervoort, Christ & Fisher, P.C. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from Wayne State University. Jim's practice is now focused on providing the highest level of client services and legal representation in the areas of Family Law (Divorce, Custody, Alimony, and related tax issues, Post-Judgment Modification issues, complex Property Division cases and Pre/Post Nuptial Agreements) and Estate and Tax Planning. Jim practices in Calhoun, Branch, Kalamazoo, Barry, and Eaton counties. Jim has been recognized as a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, a distinguished group of attorneys chosen for their professional excellence and service to the community. He was also selected and named one of Michigan's "Super Lawyers" in the area of Family Law. Super Lawyers identifies the top 5 percent of attorneys in each state, as chosen by their peers through the independent research of law. Jim has an "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the facilitator of a peer review process. The legal ability rating of "A" indicates a very high to preeminent legal rating. A General Ethical Standards rating of "V" indicates a very high ethical standard. In addition to being a member of the State Bar of Michigan, wherein he is a member of the Family Law section, he is also involved in several professional associations including the American Bar Association, the Calhoun County Bar Association of which he is a past president and member of the Friend of the Court/Family Law Committee, and the Branch County Bar Association. Jim has been an active member of many community organizations and nonprofit corporations. He is past Chairman of the Board of the Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce and also a past President of the Rotary Club of Battle Creek, where he has been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.

Ashley A. Smith joined Vandervoort, Christ & Fisher, P.C. as an associate attorney, in April 2023. Ashley was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan and attended the Battle Creek public schools. Ashley received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Peace and Social Justice, from Valparaiso University in 2009, and a Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University Law school in 2016. While in law school Ashley was a member of the Sports Law Clinic, aiding in resolving amateur athletes’ grievances with the United States Olympic Committee and with the United States Anti-Doping Agency. Ashley is an adjunct professor at Kellogg Community College, where she teaches Business Law online. Ashley is client-focused, and her previous legal experience and time as a solo practitioner prior to joining Vandervoort, Christ & Fisher has given her the insight, knowledge, and skills to aid clients in a variety of legal issues and matters.

Michael Willis founded this firm with his brother, Shaun Patrick Willis. Their father, Hon. Frank D. Willis, is the probate judge for Van Buren County, and Michael proudly carries on the family tradition in estate law by focusing his practice in estate planning, probate and estate and trust administration, and estate litigation. He also has a concentrated practice in corporate law and business succession planning, along with real estate development and transactions. Michael is registered as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois, and is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Michigan. Michael received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. Before forming Willis Law, Michael worked for Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt & Howlett LLP and Kerr, Russell, Weber, PLC.

Shaun Willis, along with his brother Michael, is a co-founder and Partner of Willis Law. Willis Law has offices in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Paw Paw. For more than 14 years, Mr. Willis has focused on assisting clients in litigation, with emphasis on business, real estate, and construction litigation. He is admitted to practice in the State Courts of Michigan, Federal Courts in the Eastern and Western District of Michigan, and the Michigan State Supreme Court. Before the formation of Willis Law, he was sole practitioner of The Law Office of Shaun Patrick Willis, worked in the Kalamazoo County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and at Howard & Howard Attorneys, PC. Shaun received a J.D. from Thomas Cooley Law School. He graduated with a B.S. in Aviation Flight Science from Western Michigan University. He is a licensed commercial pilot with a multi-engine rating, avid hunter, and teaches the legal portion of CCW classes. He and his wife, Corrina Maria Willis, are involved in the Kalamazoo community, attend Valley Family Church, and Corrina is Past President of the Lawyers Auxiliary Board. They have three daughters, Maria, Francesca, and Lucy and three sons, Patrick, Christopher, and Walter. Willis Law dedicates its practice to God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the founders' fallen brother, Corporal Christopher Kelly Willis.
