About Gary
Mr. Weintraub, a senior member of the firm, was born in New York City on July 22, 1943, and received his education entirely in New York City. Upon graduation from Stuyvesant High School, he attended University College of New York University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964. He was admitted to the law school at New York University where graduated with his law degree in 1967 and was licensed to practice in New York State in that year. He was also admitted to the Bar of the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York in 1969, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 1973 and to the United States Supreme Court in 1971. He is a frequent lecturer at the Suffolk County Academy of Law, instructing other lawyers for continuing legal education credit in administrative law and zoning and planning litigation. Mr. Weintraub has served and continues to serve as the Special Town Attorney for the Town of East Hampton from 1973 to the present time, representing that municipality with regard to zoning and planning litigation and defense of municipal torts including federal civil rights claims asserted against the Town. He has also served as Special Counsel to the New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Village of Patchogue and the Village of Amityville. Mr. Weintraub was also counsel to the Suffolk County Legislature between 1976 and 1978. Mr. Weintraub also enjoys an excellent reputation among his colleagues and the judiciary as a skillful and ethical litigator in all phases of domestic relations law. He enjoys an "AV" rating from Martindale Hubbell, an independent, worldwide rating agency. He is a member of the Trial Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association as well as a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.
