Maria Keller is a family law attorney whose path to the legal profession was shaped by personal experience, advocacy, and a strong commitment to protecting children and families. She did not initially plan to become a lawyer, but her firsthand encounters with systemic inequities affecting children with special needs and their families led her to pursue a career in law later in life. As a mother of 3, Maria faced these challenges firsthand. One of her children had special needs, and through her family’s journey, she saw how often children with disabilities and their families are treated as “less than” or undeserving of equal opportunities, dignity, and support. These experiences shaped her perspective and fueled her determination to improve advocacy for families like hers. Once her children were in school full-time, Maria saw an opportunity to channel her lived experience into meaningful change. She pursued her legal education with a focus on advocacy and family-centered representation, earning her Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School. She identified family law as a natural extension of her purpose. In addition to family law, Maria assists clients with Estate Planning and Probate matters, as well as Elder Law issues. For over 20 years, she has advocated for children and families at every stage of life. In 2021, Maria’s daughter Jordan passed away unexpectedly at age 23. While this loss profoundly altered her life, it also strengthened her resolve. She continues her family law practice in Jordan’s honor, guided by the belief that children with special needs and their families can lead full, impactful lives. Her mission is to empower families to navigate transitions, protect what matters most, and build legacies rooted in joy, love, and abundance. In recognition of her work, Maria was named a Rising Star for 2021–2022, a distinction awarded to top-rated attorneys.

Attorney J. Ross Massey is an award-winning litigation attorney who fights for clients injured in automobile, trucking and business premises accidents. For more than a decade, Mr. Massey has fought for victims’ rights throughout the states of Alabama and Georgia. Not every case needs to go to trial, but every case needs a trial lawyer, whose litigation experience proves to the insurance company that they’ll have to pay injured clients full amount now or face losing at trial later. While some attorneys encourage clients to settle their cases prematurely, Mr. Massey has a passion for litigating cases to ensure full value is paid by the insurance company. Not only did he attend Cumberland School of Law, which is nationally-ranked in trial advocacy, but he was also named a Scholar of Merit for Advanced Trial Advocacy while in school and coached several of the school’s national trial teams post-graduation. He was even awarded the prestigious, statewide “Excellence in Trial Advocacy Merit Award” by the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association for his very first jury trial as lead counsel. As a litigation attorney, his passion for being in the courtroom serves clients well. He knows not to settle for less than what a jury would reasonably award a client, and he’s not afraid to fight for what he knows is right. In 2019, Ross opened Massey Injury Law in his hometown of Athens, GA. He and his family reside in Athens and enjoy being part of the local community in Athens and Birmingham, where Ross continues to practice law.

The process or road map to this outcome may change based on your family dynamic. There are many facets to alternative dispute resolution, which may be right for your family and I enjoy helping families gauge their insights to reach family-focused solutions. There is nothing more sacred than the investment you make in your family and your children–there is no one more capable of making thoughtful and purposeful decisions about your life than you. I am a registered neutral in Georgia, focusing on domestic legal matters. As a neutral, I can help individuals facilitate their conflicts through mediation or arbitration. Resolving conflict without the aid of our court system is not a novel practice and it is certainly something families engage in every day. As a neutral, I guide the parties through negotiations and if necessary, can assist in drafting a mediated agreement or as an arbitrator, reaching a decision with consideration for the parties’ stated position. If the dispute requires court intervention, as an attorney practicing in metro Atlanta I have experience representing and assisting individuals and families with all aspects of family and matrimonial law including but not limited to divorce, custody, domestic violence, property division, parenting plans, child support, and legitimation. Despite the adversarial nature of litigation, my focus remains on ensuring my client’s interests remain with their children. I am pleased to work as a court-appointed and private Guardian ad Litem (“GAL”) representing the child client’s best interest. In addition, I am a certified parent coordinator to assist high conflict parents to return their focus and priority to their children and help disengage from the costs of litigation.
