About Heather

Heather McMillan has two law degrees, a Juris Doctorate ("JD") from St. Mary's University and a prestigious Master of Laws ("LLM") from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

Her practice is devoted to helping consumers in times of need, whether it is during a financial crisis (Bankruptcy), following a lapse in judgment (DUI), or planning for their financial future (Estate Planning). Currently, Ms. McMillan is working as part-time faculty at Colorado State University, helping Director of the Conservation Cooperative, Jeff Jones, to develop a short course on Conservation Law.

Prior to forming Comfort Legal and the Law Offices of Heather McMillan, Ms. McMillan worked as a family law attorney in Denver and performed freelance research and writing work for several Colorado corporations. She also clerked at the Boulder County Attorney's Office and worked for the University of Denver's Environmental Law Clinical Partnership as a Student Attorney.

Due to her impressive personal and academic record, Ms. McMillan received the highest possible scholarship to get into law school, the Dean's Scholarship. While in law school she earned many academic accolades, including receiving five Academic Excellence Awards - in Advanced Legal Writing, Natural Resources Law, Negotiations, Comparative Law, and Property Law. In addition, Ms. McMillan was offered a coveted Academic Internship with Professor Jeffrey Addicott, Director of the Center for Terrorism Law. Professor Addicott extended her a personal invitation to continue working for him following law school, as the Colorado Point of Contact for the Center.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. McMillan graduated Summa Cum Laude (top 2%) from Eastern Oregon University with a Bachelor of Arts ("BA") in Philosophy, Economics, and Politics. While attending the University, Ms. McMillan was one of only three nominees for the elite American Association for Undergraduate Women, and she was an active member of the Pinnacle Honor Society and Student Leadership.

Ms. McMillan is certified in both Westlaw and Lexis Nexis and is a member of the American Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association. She volunteers her time to several organizations, including Clean Water Action and The Humane Society.

Ms. McMillan is very involved in fitness and weight training, and she enjoys the Colorado outdoors whenever she can. Currently, she is training for her first NPC fitness contest.
