About Heather

Heather W. Tootle received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio in 1993.  Also in 1993, she was selected to study in the prestigious Global Issues program at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.  She also studied in the World Churches Study Abroad program at the Vatican in Italy, and in Germany, France, England and Ireland.

In 1996, Heather graduated from Capital University Law School with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and passed the Ohio Bar Exam.  And, in 1997 she passed the Federal Bar Exam.  Attorney Tootle began practicing law in 1996, focused on personal injury law, estate planning, and bankruptcy law.

She then founded and served as the managing attorney of the family law section at the Bressman & Sotak Law Firm.  In 1998, she established the Law Office of Heather W. Tootle to concentrate exclusively on domestic relations and family law cases and related matters.  Only three years after she started practicing law, Heather was nominated by her Columbus Bar Association peers and chosen for the Barrister Leader Program.

In addition to her focus on family law since 1997, attorney Tootle has extensive experience in the Ohio court system.  She was chosen by Senior Justice Douglas, Supreme Court of Ohio, to serve as a judicial law clerk.  Judges Michael Higgins and Thomas Marcelain, Licking County, Ohio, Municipal Court, appointed her a judicial law clerk.  Further, she served as an intern prosecutor in the Obetz, Ohio, Mayor's Court.  Heather represented several indigent clients while working in the Capital Law School Legal Clinic.

For four consecutive years, Heather served as the Continuing Legal Education chairperson of the Columbus Bar Association's section of the Family Law Committee.  She has planned, or participated as a speaker, in the Columbus Bar Association's family law seminars for several years.  Heather also volunteers with the Street Law Program, teaching 6th graders about law-related topics.

In addition to working as an attorney, Heather enjoys being a mother and playing in soccer leagues with her husband.
