Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Last year a client came to me to get custody of his children away from their mother. Through diligent research, marshalling of the evidence, effective preparation of the client, and persuasive presentation, my client was awarded custody.

How did you build a successful practice?

I use established "best practices," maintain higher standards, and keep the clients engaged through open communication.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Someone they can connect with on a personal level.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Knowledge of the local courts - both their rules and their staff - is key to effective litigation. As a former Court Attorney in Supreme and Family Courts, I have that knowledge.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

In a phone consultation, I can establish a basic understanding of the case and some base level of expectation for the client, as well as an initial understanding of the potential cost.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Where the case is pending, what stage it has reached, if the other party is represented by counsel, the name of the judge or other hearing officers presiding.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I don't like lawyers generally. Thus I attempt to distinguish myself from the average attorney in the way I approach my clients - particularly treating them with attention and respect.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping people.

Are you involved in your community?

I have, at different stages of my life, been a volunteer firefighter and EMT, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the treasurer of a charity that provides mentoring to at-risk youth, and am currently participating in the pro bono services program for matrimonial litigants in Kings County.
