Ross Hickman | Traverse City Criminal Defense Lawyer

Ross is one of six brothers born and raised in Adrian Michigan. He spent summers in northern Michigan and returned here in the 80s where he helped raise three wonderful children. Ross is an avid cyclist and has competed in many local and national cycling events including the Iceman, National 24 Hour Challenge and the Assault on Mount Mitchell. He is also an expert downhill and cross country skier, and has run five marathons.

Ross was the manager of the Salvation Army Men’s Social Service Center in Anchorage Alaska during the 1970s. From this experience he gained first-hand knowledge of how the inadequacies of life can challenge people. His experience helping, relocating, and being a friend to the homeless, and down and out, have given him a unique understanding of how the legal system can adversely affect the falsely accused. He fulfilled his military obligation as a conscientious objector in his capacity with the Salvation Army. His belief in standing up for what he feels is right and protecting the little guy has propelled him to be one of the leading defense lawyers in northern Michigan.

He has tried more cases with positive outcomes than any other attorney in Northern Michigan. His successes include criminal sexual conduct, domestic violence and possession/delivery or manufacture of controlled substances including marijuana and many other offenses.

Ross is an independent thinker, not allowing others to dictate his thoughts and actions. He does what is right and believes in” innocent until proven guilty”. His ability to look at situations from over 35 years of world and legal experience puts him in the unique position to utilize legal avenues that others overlook, don’t see, or don’t have the courage to use.
