Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We had a case earlier in the year where my client was being blamed for an accident that wasn't his fault. We went out and located witnesses. Mind you, these witnesses were not listed on the police report. We took statements from the witnesses and filed a lawsuit against the other person who had actually caused the accident. We received a phone call from the other person's insurance company not long after filing the lawsuit. We shared the statements and information we collected from the witnesses along with pictures and other evidence. We reached a successful settlement shortly thereafter. The client was very pleased with the dramatic turn around in his case.
How did you build a successful practice?
Hard work and referrals from happy clients built our practice. Most of our cases continue to be referrals.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a lawyer that recognizes and remembers them. Good lawyers aren't overloaded. They know their clients and know the facts of the cases they are handling.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It can be critical. For example, we had a client that allegedly did not have his lights on at the time of the accident. Because we knew the area where the crash occurred, we knew there was no chance anyone could navigate that area at night without headlights. This led to further investigation that eventually vindicated the client.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Depending on how much time is available, Mr. Chappell generally gives potential clients a synopsis of how things go from beginning to end and answer any questions. This process is then typically repeated in a more detailed fashion at a face to face meeting at the office, although we do offer free home and hospital visits. After all, plenty of folks only own one vehicle, and if that vehicle isn't drivable because of an accident, how can we expect them to get to the office.
