About Howard

Mr. McPherson joined the firm in 2004 of counsel. He was born and raised in Hawaii and had a former career in commercial diving and salvage. In that career he participated in marine construction and offshore oil production projects on the East, Gulf, and West Coasts of the U. S. Mainland, in Hawaii, and in many of the U. S. Pacific possessions. He is a former chair of the Admiralty Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association and a regular speaker at professional seminars on maritime law. Mr. McPherson is also the author of The Marine Advisor, an admiralty newsletter. In the area of complex civil litigation, Mr. McPherson was appointed a Special Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawaii in the Bronster v. Brown & Williamson, et al. tobacco litigation that resulted in a $1.3 billion settlement for the State. He also represented the State as a Special Deputy in the Anzai v. Chevron Corp. et al. gasoline antitrust litigation in Hawaii.
