Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Our team recently secured a $1.75 million settlement for a Bronx tenant who suffered serious neck injuries after a ceiling collapsed in her apartment. The insurance company initially claimed her injuries were “age-related.” We proved that the landlord had ignored clear warning signs and that the accident made her prior condition significantly worse. By uncovering internal maintenance records and medical evidence, we forced accountability and restored her quality of life.

How did you build a successful practice?

Chaikin Trial Group was built on the belief that every client deserves direct communication with real lawyers, not call centers. We combine aggressive litigation with compassion—preparing every case as if it will go to trial and treating every client like family. Over time, that commitment to results and service has earned us more than $100 million in verdicts and settlements across New York.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for a lawyer who is responsive, experienced, and honest about both the strengths and challenges of their case. A good lawyer won’t just promise results—they’ll prepare you, explain every step, and fight as if your case were their own.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is critical. Understanding how New York courts, judges, and insurance carriers operate allows us to anticipate strategies, choose the right experts, and maximize results. We’ve handled cases in every borough and county across the metro area, from Brooklyn construction sites to Suffolk County roadways.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

During a free consultation, we explain your legal rights, potential case value, and next steps—including how medical treatment, lost wages, and insurance coverage are handled. We also outline how contingency fees work, so clients understand there are no upfront costs.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

We typically ask when and where the incident occurred, what injuries you’ve sustained, whether you received medical treatment, and if any photos, reports, or witnesses exist. These details help us quickly determine liability and the strength of your claim.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

We prepare every client as if their case is going to trial—because insurance companies know which firms will actually try cases. That preparation, combined with 24/7 client access, multilingual staff, and a compassionate, hands-on approach, is what sets us apart. We don’t outsource communication; we build relationships that last.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Seeing a client’s relief when justice is served. Whether it’s replacing lost income, funding surgery, or simply proving the truth, there’s nothing more fulfilling than helping someone rebuild after tragedy.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Outside the courtroom, I enjoy mentoring young attorneys, supporting local youth sports, and spending time with family. Balance and perspective make us better advocates.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes. Our firm regularly sponsors community events, educational programs, and safety initiatives across Long Island and New York City. We also offer free consultations and outreach to construction workers, union members, and accident victims who may not know their rights.
