About J.

J. David Hollingsworth was born in 1946 and has been a life-long resident of the State of Indiana. He attended Franklin College of Indiana wherein he received his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1968. Upon graduation, he taught for one year in the Indianapolis Public Schools system and then taught four years thereafter in the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township. While employed as a teacher, Mr. Hollingsworth participated in various committees for Washington Township addressing all issues from dress codes to student conduct.

Law school commenced in June of 1969 and David completed the curriculum requirements at Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis in 1973. David worked in the Indiana State Attorney General’s office for one year after graduation and was directly involved in the Appellate Division until promoted to counsel for the Indiana Department of Insurance and the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He also served as Deputy Marion County Prosecutor and was assigned to the Crime Action Team, with his activities being solely devoted to burglary cases without plea agreements. David has devoted his time to the private practice of law since 1976.

Mr. Hollingsworth served as an officer in the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis from 1994 to 2001, progressing to the level of Chairman of the Executive Committee for the year 2000-2001. David was the original Chairman of the Board of Directors of the 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Center for Children from 1999 to 2000.

David has served as counsel to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Carmel, Indiana, and has served on the Administrative Board of that organization.

Mr. Hollingsworth has been a lecturer for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum and has conducted numerous seminars ranging from topics as diverse as estate planning and non-custodial parent’s rights. Mr. Hollingsworth also taught preparatory courses at IUPUI from 1978 through 1984, as well as a graduate course in Health Care Law.

David is qualified as a civil and domestic mediator and has assisted numerous litigants to successful resolution of their issues through mediation. He was involved in the original pilot program for the mediation training in the State of Indiana, and assisted in the presentation of mediation techniques to prospective mediators.

David and his wife, Carol, were married in 1968, and they have two children. Carol has been an elementary school teacher with the Carmel-Clay School Corporation for the past twenty years. The Hollingsworths enjoy spending time with their five grandchildren. David also enjoys golf, fishing, and oil painting.
