J. P. LeCompte was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005 and practices in the areas of Business Law, Corporate Law, Partnership Law, Real Estate Law, Consumer Law, Landlord/Tenant Law, Homeowner Associations, Foreclosures, Property Taxes, Probate and Collections. Mr. LeCompte is not certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. LeCompte is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Denton County Bar Association, and Greater Denton County Young Lawyer's Association, for which he currently serves as President and Director.  Mr. LeCompte is the Director for District 11 of the Texas Young Lawyers' Association and serves on the Member Services and Outreach (Co-Chairperson) and Community Education and Consumer Affairs Committees, as well as the Long-Range Planning Committee.  Through TYLA, Mr. LeCompte has served as a Co-Course Director for The New Lawyer Course 2009, a continuing education course presented by Texas Bar CLE, and he has prepared and/or updated several publications, including Guide to Mechanic's Lien Law and How to Sue in Small Claims Court. Mr. LeCompte is a member of the Leadership Denton Class of 2010 (Project Co-Director), a Director and volunteer for the Denton County Kinship Fair, and a member of Texas A&M Lettermen's Association and Denton County A&M Club.

Mr. LeCompte graduated from South Texas College of Law in 2005. In law school, Mr. LeCompte earned the Dean's Merit Scholarship, he was a member of the Corporate Counsel Review, he participated in the Mock Trial Litigation Intramural Competition, and he participated in the ABA Interscholastic Negotiation Competition.

Mr. LeCompte received his Bachelor of Business Administration - Management (2000) and Master of Business Administration - Finance (2002) degrees from Texas A&M University. In addition to his academic pursuits at Texas A&M, Mr. LeCompte played tight end for the Texas A&M football team during the 1996-2000 seasons. Mr. LeCompte was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll from 1998-2000, he earned the GTE/Verizon Scholar-Athlete Academic Achievement Award from 1997-2000, and he was selected as a Distinguished Student in the Lowry Mays College of Business for the fall semester of 1999. Mr. LeCompte also participated in Aggie Athletes Involved, an athlete-run community service organization. While in graduate school, Mr. LeCompte was a member of the Masters' Consulting Group, won First Place in the MBA Team Case Competition, and took part in "The Public Policy Process and Business" series at the Washington Campus in Washington, D.C.
