About Jack

Mr. Borrus received his B.S. degree, cum laude, from Columbia University and graduated from Columbia University Law School. He received his Master of Laws degree from New York University in federal taxation. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1954, and served in the Courts and Boards section of the U.S. Army. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1957, The United States Tax Court in 1961 and the United States Supreme Court in 1978.

Mr. Borrus was law clerk to Judge Edward Gaulkin. He was acting magistrate in New Brunswick, and Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor from 1964 to 1967. He was a lecturer in the Skills and Methods course for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education from 1967 to 1968 and in corporation law in 1988. Mr. Borrus served as Special Counsel to the General Assembly of New Jersey, and was chairman of the Middlesex County Ethics Committee and the Middlesex County Judicial Selection Committee. He was co-chairman of the New Jersey Corporate Law Revision Commission and was a member of the New Jersey Bar Association Judicial and Prosecutors Appointment Committee which reviews judges and prosecutors appointments under a special compact with the Governor. Mr. Borrus is a member of  The American Trial Lawyers Association.

At the present time, Mr. Borrus is engaged in civil litigation, condemnation cases, business organizations, estate planning, real estate, zoning and represents many large and closely held corporations. He has been attorney for the North Brunswick Board of Education, and counsel to the Board of Education of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High Schools. He was also counsel to the Highland Park, Port Republic and Branchburg boards of education.

Mr. Borrus has been a member of the Middlesex County, Federal and State tax committees, a member of the New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey State and American bar associations, American Trial Lawyers Association, and the New Jersey School Board Attorneys' Association.

His areas of concentration include civil trials, condemnation cases, contracts, business acquisitions, corporation law, product liability, real estate zoning, school law, tax, trusts, wills, estates, and chancery  litigation.
