About James
In 2011, Jim served as Lowenstein’s Essex-Newark Legal Services Fellow and represented low-income tenants in eviction proceedings. He obtained numerous favorable outcomes for his clients in and out of the courtroom, including bringing a Consumer Fraud Act suit against a slumlord for failing to maintain heat and electricity during the winter in an apartment where a mother and two children were living.
Jim earned his J.D. from the New York University School of Law, where he was the notes editor of the Annual Survey of American Law and published a note entitled, The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit in New Jersey: New Opportunities to Deconcentrate Poverty Through the Duty of Affirmatively Further Fair Housing. He received his B.A, cum laude, in political science from The City College of New York and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Before going to law school, Jim was a programmer and entrepreneur in the technology industry. For 8 years, he worked on the cutting edge of internet technology, first as a coder on a variety of complex business applications and later as a co-owner of Xanthus, Inc., an internet technology consulting firm. Jim now applies his extensive knowledge of information systems to maximize his efficiency in case management, and e-discovery practice.
Jim is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Morris County Bar Association, DRI, and the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. He serves on the legal program board at Covenant House New Jersey.
Jim and his family live in West Orange, New Jersey.
