Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
A family had been waiting over 10 years to get a green card. It was finally time to apply. In order for the children in the family to be included in the green card application, the children must not turn 21 until the green card application is approved. We noticed that one of the children was going to turn 21 soon and would have to have his application expedited. If he turned 21 before the application was approved, he would be left behind. We contacted the immigration service's office in Chatsworth, California. They agreed to help us expedite the application and the child received his green card approval on Friday at 4:00 PM, the day before his 21st birthday. Without the help of the outstanding immigration officers in Chatsworth, we never could have pulled it off.
How did you build a successful practice?
Enjoying my work and working hard. I learned about hard work form my mother who started our company in 1988.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Knowledge of the law, patience and the ability to work hard for a fair price.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Not too important. Immigration law is a Federal law and one can practice Federal law anywhere one is licensed.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In many cases, I can provide enough information to determine if a person might qualify for an immigration benefit.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Depends
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
We have flexible hours, enjoy our work and have prices that are fair. I do think that most of the lawyers in my community are good lawyers.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The ability to wake up the next day and be excited to spend another day doing it all over again.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Kayaking, backpacking, bike riding, going to the gym and traveling.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes. We file U visas pro bono for cases referred to us by the District Attorney's office and have represented individuals pro bono in immigration court.
