James Douglas DeChurch, Partner/Shareholder

James DeChurch has been a shareholder with the firm's Miami office since 2002. He focuses his practice on litigation with particular emphasis on insurance litigation and claims involving catastrophic injury. He defends companies and major insurance carriers against a wide variety of claims, including professional liability, personal injury, wrongful death, products liability and malpractice. Mr. DeChurch regularly litigates cases in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies and in alternative dispute resolution forums.

Mr. DeChurch is an AV-rated attorney with more than 10 years experience as a civil litigator. A significant portion of his practice involves the representation of hospitals, doctors and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice claims. Mr. DeChurch has served as lead counsel for a major medical school in both litigation and regulatory proceedings. Mr. DeChurch also assists hospitals and health care professionals with loss prevention and risk management counseling.

Mr. DeChurch is a member of the Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is the past secretary of the Dade County Defense Bar Association and a current member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.
