About James
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hamman practiced with a law firm that specialized in insurance defense. His experience on the defense side of cases has been of considerable value to him in determining optimum strategies for settlement of cases or in preparation for trial. He now concentrates exclusively in representing injured parties in personal injury and workers compensation claims. Mr. Hamman has successfully argued several workers compensation cases before the Illinois Appellate Court. He has represented injured workers against numerous employers, including: The City of Chicago; The Chicago Board of Education; The Chicago Park District; The State of Illinois; Cook County; the CTA; Pace; Ford; UPS; Coca-Cola; Yellow Freight; United Airlines; Southwest Airlines; and various hospitals, manufacturers and municipalities, to name a few. He is active in the Workers' Compensation Bar.

An award of Permanent Total Disability benefits for a Chicago school teacher who fractured her hip when she was knocked to the floor during a student altercation.

A settlement in the amount of $370,000 for an injured municipality laborer who was unable to return to his job as a laborer.

A settlement in the amount of $250,000 for an injured municipality laborer who was unable to return to his job as a laborer. As part of that settlement, the insurer agreed to fund a Social Security set-aside account in the amount of $65,000.

In a totally contested case, the petitioner slipped and fell and injured his hip but medical evidence was produced that indicated the client's condition was congenital (from birth). Mr. Hamman was able to obtain a settlement of $125,000.

A $125,000 settlement for a nurse who injured her back while working at Ingalls Memorial Hospital and who returned to the workplace earning more in her new supervisory position than she had before the accident.
