Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Successfully guided client to secure Minority Business Enterprise certification from City of Chicago, after client acting on his own was denied certification
How did you build a successful practice?
My primary growth has come from being known in the greater Chicago community where I have resided for over 40 years. The growth of my government contracting business has come through word of mouth and my web site.and referrals through not-for-profit organizations, primarily Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (\"PTAC\"), located throughout the United States.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
someone who generated confidence in the client in substantive legal skills and experience, communication will occur regularly and that attorney makes it clear that they are engaged to learn and achieve the client\'s goals as articulated by the client.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is a factor in skills and experience credentials. However, chemistry between the client and attorney is the glue which is most important for the client achieving their goals
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
First is learning what the client\'s issues are - this entails asking questions which draw out the client\'s goals. Second is giving the client a concise description of the attorney\'s way of delivering their services. The client should come away with confidence that the Attorney is knowledgeable about the client\'s issues, and how the attorney operates, including their expectations from the client. i
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
an explanation from the client of their issues and the end result they are seeking. This exchange should be painted with a broad brush. the discussions should not entail a deep dive into substantce. .
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
My accessibility; conveying that there are no dumb questions, and most importantly is my unique practice of going to where the client is rather than the client coming to attorney\'s office. This procedural approach rests upon 2 core beliefs I hold 1. the client\'s time is a valuable as mine; and 2 going to the client best ensures securing all relevant documentary information efficiently and in the initial stages of the engagement.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
interactions with clients
What are your other interests in addition to law?
As a retired youth football coach, I enjoy watching youth sports, starting with kids in elementary school through high school. I am kept busy tending to my home, inside and out. I love to travel, particularly internationally..
Are you involved in your community?
I spent 37 years involved with pre-high school youth in a variety of sport. Retired from that activity, my community involvement - not so much.
