About James
As a Honolulu personal injury lawyer, he enjoys helping injured individuals seek justice and recovering maximum compensation on their behalf.
Throughout the course of his career, he has had countless successful results, inside and outside of the courtroom. Many of the cases he has handled have altered Hawaii laws. For example, the Hawaii Supreme Court expanded the definition of “product” in product liability cases when hearing Armstrong v. Cione.
Mr. Leavitt was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps (JAG) when he was assigned to Pearl Harbor in 1968. Upon completing his service in 1970, he joined the original Public Defenders Office here and then started the firm in 1972.
In his spare time he enjoys surfing.
