About Jameson
Jameson P. Wells ("Jamie") was born in Ithaca, New York and raised in Skaneateles, New York, and Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with honors in International Studies and thereafter received a Masters in Public Administration from the University of New York of Albany. Jamie later received his J.D. Degree from Albany Law School in Albany, New York in 1983. During his schooling in Albany, Jamie had the privilege of working for then New York State Lieutenant Governor Mario Cuomo.
After graduation, Jamie returned to Charlotte, North Carolina, to start his career as an attorney. After working briefly as a law clerk with Weinstein & Sturges, P.A., in 1984 he opened his own general practice on East Trade Street in Charlotte in what then was referred to as the "Law Building.” He continued to engage in the general practice of law for several years with an emphasis in business and corporate law, residential and commercial real estate, and estate planning.
In December 1997, Jamie was joined by Michel Daisley and the firm's name was changed to Wells & Daisley, P.A., to reflect the new partnership. Michel and Jamie relocated their practice to its present location on Cleveland Avenue in the Dilworth neighborhood in late 1998. In December 2005, Chet Rabon joined the firm as a partner, and the firm name became Wells Daisley Rabon, P.A.
Jamie has gained extensive experience across a broad range of legal services while serving clients throughout his 25-year career. The following list illustrates the nature of his work during that period:
- Has incorporated nearly 400 new corporations and limited liability companies.
- Has formed several Non-Profit organizations and achieved 501(c)(3) IRS tax-exempt status for those entities, such as the Athletes United for Youth, a Charlotte-based charitable organization.
- Has handled numerous corporate asset and stock purchases.
- Has provided legal representation for clients in relation to a vast array of real estate concerns, including drafting purchase agreements, conducting commercial closings and refinances, condominium formations, and the preparation and review of residential and commercial leases.
- Has provided estate planning and associated estate documentation for several corporate owners.
- Has drafted wills and trusts for hundreds of individuals.
- Has drafted numerous documents during ongoing representation for small business and corporate clients, such as employment agreements, corporate policy manuals, non-competition agreements and vendor agreements.
- Has advised numerous clients considering the purchase of franchise business opportunities and handled their ongoing representation.
- Has experience in education law having served as counsel for a North Carolina Charter School.
- Has engaged in numerous forms of litigation for business clientele in the state courts by defending claims and by advancing claims against third parties.
Jamie's experience includes all manner of small business representation, corporate mergers and acquisitions, collections, commercial real estate, estate planning, wills and trusts, and nonprofit law. In addition, he has served as an instructor at Central Piedmont Community College, the Duke University Non-Profit Certificate Program, and within the Graduate Public Administration Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Jamie received his licenses to practice law in both North Carolina and New York State in 1984. He is licensed to appear before all North Carolina District and Superior State Courts, all North Carolina appellate courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of North Carolina. He is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar as well as the North Carolina Bar Association.
Jamie is a former board member of the North Carolina Board of Science and Technology, having been appointed by the Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He is also a former board member of WTVI, the Charlotte based public television station.
Jamie is married to Cynthia Wells, Chief Financial Officer at the Charlotte YWCA. The Wells have two children, a daughter, Eleanor, and a son, Emerson, and live in the Plaza-Midwood community.
