About Jared
Since Jared was a child, he was taught the intricacies of personal injury law by his father, Steven. From a young age Jared wanted to help people who had been wronged and found that becoming a lawyer was the best way to do that. Unlike many law school students who do not have a goal in mind, other than to become an attorney, Jared tailored his law school experience to prepare him to represent clients at Matz Injury Law. Jared prides himself on knowing the law and how to apply it to his clients’ needs.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
My client is a quadriplegic. The insurance company responsible for paying for his care stopped paying. Without the care my client would have died. We immediately filed a lawsuit and convinced the Judge to issue a restraining order forcing the insurance company to continue to pay. The case ended up getting resolved and my client continues to receive the care he requires.
How did you build a successful practice?
By caring more about my clients than anybody else could.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Someone they can trust and feel comfortable with. Someone who charges less and can still deliver the same results is an added bonus.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Knowing the law in Michigan and how to apply it to my clients' needs is extremely important.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I can educate the potential client about their rights under the law given the facts of their case.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
I need to know what happened, who was hurt and in what way, and who was at fault.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Our biggest selling point is that we charge less. 22 NOT 33. We charge a contingency fee of 22% of the net settlement amount. Almost all other attorneys charge 33 1/3%. The savings realized by hiring Matz Injury Law can be thousands of dollars.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Telling a client that the insurance company has agreed to pay them what they want. Giving people good information and positive results.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I'm a very active person. In the summer I play baseball, tennis, and go swimming. In the winter I go skiing, sledding, and love taking the kids to indoor water parks.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, I coach two local little league teams. Our firm often takes on cases bro bono and provides free legal advice to people who just need to be pointed in the right direction and don't need to pay for an attorney.
