Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I represented a young woman who was charged with underage drinking when she attended a graduation party. She came to me in tears because she had been through the tragedy of losing a brother to addiction and she had not had anything to drink at the party. Although the evidence against her was very weak, the police would not drop the case and we were compelled to go to trial. At the trial, the judge found the young woman NOT GUILTY of the charge. She was grateful that I believed her, that she got to tell her story and that justice was served. I was able to help a young man who was injured when a pull-down attic stairway collapsed causing him to fall to the floor from near ceiling height. As a result of his injuries, he was unable to work as an electrician thereafter. He was able to receive workers compensation benefits in addition to a settlement from the contractor who negligently installed the pull-down stairway.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built my practice with the help of others who referred cases to me and through word-of-mouth from people I have represented.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

In addition to knowledge of the law, common sense and compassion are key. I believe it is important for me to speak directly to my clients rather than only through office staff.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Knowledge of the local courts, personnel and procedures can be vital to reaching a successful outcome in a case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

In a free telephone consultation, we can discuss the facts of a case, how the case or transaction will proceed and, quite possibly, the range of the legal fee.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My interests outside the law include my family (my wife and three children, sports (participating and watching), travel and books.
