Jeff Lake was born in Orange, California in June of 1966. He lived in Southern California and the San Francisco bay area until he moved to Paris, France and attended the American School of Paris in 1983 and 1984. Mr. Lake received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of San Diego in 1988 with a major in International Relations and a minor in Business Administration. He earned his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California in 1991 and began practicing law as a civil litigation attorney in 1992.

Before founding The Law Offices of Jeffrey A. Lake, A.P.C. in 2001, Mr. Lake was the founder and managing partner of Lake & Mougin, LLP, a full service civil litigation law firm. Over his 23 year legal career, Mr. Lake has represented a multitude of private clients, corporate entities and trade organizations in a diverse range of matters arising from: mass tort, products liability and other tort based actions, construction defect, real property, land use, zoning, landlord-tenant, municipal and regulatory law, election law, contract disputes and business related transactions, corporate and nonprofit formation, criminal law, lobbying and alternative dispute resolution. He has also served as general counsel and as a board of directors member for many exceptional for profit and nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Lake has successfully resolved over $200 million worth of civil cases. His litigation experience includes nearly three-dozen trials, highlighted by the following cases: Aas v. Superior Court, In re Nexium v. Astrazeneca, Ceglia v. Facebook, Y.C.G.A. v. Yuba County, Pappas v. Farr, and Dionicio v. Beazer Homes. Mr. Lake has negotiated at hundreds of mediations, arbitrations and settlement conferences throughout the country. He has also taken and defended well over 500 depositions of experts and percipient witnesses.

Mr. Lake is affiliated with the following organizations: American Bar Association, California Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association, Bar Association, the United States District Courts, Southern and Central Districts, American Trial Lawyers Association and the San Diego Association of Realtors. Mr. Lake was also an editor and staff writer for San Diego Lawyer Magazine from 1999 until 2002 and the author of the novel Through Broken Glass, which was published in 2003.

Mr. Lake has received numerous awards including: a United States Congress Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, a California State Senate Certificate of Recognition, a Certificate of Appreciation from the County of San Diego, and a Special Commendation from the City of San Diego. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow as awarded by Rotary International.
