About Jennifer
Jennifer graduated from Hollins College in 1996 with a B.A. in English. During her time there, she worked for William W. Wilkins, Jr., then Chief of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She graduated with honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. In 2001, she earned her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Jennifer began her legal career under the Honorable Trey Gowdy, then solicitor of the Seventh Judicial District, covering Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties.
Her career took her to North Carolina, where she served as a state prosecutor before becoming an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of North Carolina. As a federal prosecutor, Jennifer handled federal investigations into international drug trafficking organizations and money laundering. Returning to South Carolina in 2016, she worked with Solicitor Barry Barnette, leading a multi-jurisdictional domestic violence initiative and handling federal gun prosecutions as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Her dedication earned her the prestigious John Justice Community Leadership Award in 2017.
Throughout her career, Jennifer Wells has tried hundreds of cases, including those involving federal drug charges, money laundering, murder, attempted murder, sexual assault, domestic violence, child pornography, and DUI. She is skilled in defending criminal charges in Spartanburg and is also recognized as a trusted sexual abuse lawyer in Spartanburg. Jennifer handles cases from speeding tickets to murder and complex federal criminal defense matters. She also handles Title IX investigations and hearings, school disciplinary actions, academic integrity violations at colleges and universities across the Southeast. These types of cases include student code of conduct issues such as physical and sexual assault, hazing, and cheating, amongst others.
“Giving people a voice is the most important part of being a lawyer to me,” Jennifer says. “People often feel like they get lost in the legal system. I work hard to make sure our clients have a voice in the process and that that voice is heard.”
Raised in the Upstate, Jennifer now balances her work at KD Trial Lawyers Spartanburg SC with family life. She has two children and spends her free time enjoying the outdoors. A passionate hunter and fisher, Jennifer plans much of her time off around these activities. She is also a dedicated runner who completed a half Ironman and a loyal sports fan, cheering on both her children and her beloved college team.
Whether you’re seeking an experienced attorney in Spartanburg, SC, or navigating complex legal challenges, Jennifer Wells is a trusted advocate ready to provide representation.
