About Jessica
Jessica Hargis is an attorney specializing in all aspects of Immigration & Nationality Law. As an Associate with Teplen & Associates since 2006, she has successfully assisted hundreds of clients in obtaining training and professional visas, investor and treaty-trader visas, extraordinary ability visas and green cards, family-based green cards, labor certifications and employment-based green cards, national interest waivers, citizenship, asylum, and relief from deportation and removal. Ms. Hargis advocates for clients in all stages of their cases, regularly appearing in Immigration Court and representing clients before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Ms. Hargis received her Bachelor of the Arts Degree from Vassar College in 2003, majoring in political science and international economics. She received her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2006, with coursework concentrated on advanced issues in immigration law, international law and civil rights.
During law school, Ms. Hargis was actively involved with the Center for Social Justice at Seton Hall School of Law as an Immigration & Human Rights Law Clinic participant. Ms. Hargis and her partner successfully represented asylum-seekers and other victims of persecution, and visited area-wide detention centers conducting "Know Your Rights" presentations for detainees. Her legal education and training includes study abroad at Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as pro bono service at several community-based public interest organizations, such as the ACLU-NJ. Ms. Hargis was a competitor in the 2004 Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, and a member of the Seton Hall School of Law Student Bar Association's Honor Council.
Ms. Hargis is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, and is a member of the New York Immigration Coalition, American Immigration Lawyer's Association, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Kings County Criminal Bar Association.
