About Joel
I was born in Asheville and have lived in Western North Carolina my entire life. I am a graduate of Brevard College and of Western Carolina University and I received by law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1970. My wife Nancy and I live near Asheville, where my office has been located since I returned to the mountains following my graduation from law school and my admission to the bar.
Since 1970 I have represented people in Asheville and across Western North Carolina who have been injured in serious car accidents or trucking accidents, or who have been damaged by medical or nursing home negligence or abuse. or other negligent acts. During the time I have been a lawyer I have defended many clients who have been charged with violations of the criminal law. My early practice, with my late partner State Senator Bob Swain, was largely devoted to criminal defense, and I still enjoy defending people who have been accused of criminal and traffic violations.
I have chosen to keep my practice small in order to have time to meet individually with each of my clients and to give each case, my personal attention.
I am currently accepting matters involving motor vehicle accidents, professional negligence, real property disputes, wills and estate, guardianships and the defense of criminal and traffic charges.
