John D. Blomquist | Attorney

Mr. Blomquist is a uniquely experienced businessman and attorney with an accomplished career of professional leadership, operations management and legal expertise. He has served as a military officer, corporate general counsel, litigator, New Jersey Deputy Attorney General and business executive.

Mr. Blomquist attended Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts on academic scholarship, earning a B.A., cum laude. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, New York, New York where he was the McNamara Scholar. While at Fordham, Mr. Blomquist was chosen to work in the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, interning for Deputy U.S. Attorney Louis J. Freeh and Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald. Mr. Blomquist is a graduate of The Wharton School's Corporate Governance Program at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; the Sarbanes-Oxley Institute in New York, New York, and the United States Army Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Mr. Blomquist served as a Captain in the United States Army as an Air Assault qualified paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He began his legal career as a civil litigator with an established Manhattan law firm defending corporations in federal and state courts throughout New York and New Jersey. He was later appointed a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice. As a prosecutor with the Statewide Narcotics Task Force, Mr. Blomquist investigated and prosecuted major narcotics traffickers throughout New Jersey and specialized in complex electronic surveillance investigations. In 2001, he was named General Counsel for YourHomeDirect.com, an aggressive, rapid-growth startup that revolutionized the U.S. real estate industry. Mr. Blomquist also managed and led the New Jersey operations of United General Title Insurance Company, a top ten national title insurance underwriter, and later served as the Senior Vice President & General Counsel for Foxtons North America, Inc. At Foxtons, Mr. Blomquist personally cultivated and managed an international relationship with Citibank and Citimortgage, resulting in a $10 million joint advertising and marketing agreement between Foxtons and the world's largest financial institution. Mr. Blomquist also led and managed Safeguard Title Agency, Inc., Foxtons' most profitable enterprise, and completed his tenure at Foxtons as the company's acting chief executive. Mr. Blomquist is also the Founder of Standby General Counsel, a unique service providing general legal counsel to businesses and corporations, as well as a Founder and Principal of Standby Executive Team (SET), an enterprise that effectively challenges traditional corporate structure by providing businesses with the value of an executive team at a fraction of the cost.

Mr. Blomquist is a commanding public speaker and has taught classes at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and the New Jersey State Police Academy in Sea Girt, New Jersey. In 2009, he was a guest lecturer for the Comparative Counterterrorism Law course conducted at the Heidelberg Center Para America Latina in Santiago, Chile. He is a member of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, North American-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and National Law Enforcement Associates. Mr. Blomquist is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey and the U.S. Army Court of Military Review.
