About John
John’s clients include employers of all sizes. His practice includes extensive representation of employers before various administrative agencies, including the New York State Division of Human Rights (NYSDHR) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). He frequently represents and advises clients regarding claims of discrimination related age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, and other protected class status. He also represents employers before the New York and United States Department of Labor in audits and hearings.
John believes that preparation on the part of employers is the best way to avoid litigation. To that end, he assists employers in their preparation by drafting employee handbooks, employment policies, and where appropriate, employment contracts. He also works with in-house counsel who have drafted their own policies by providing review and suggestions and by providing training on a variety of employment law issues. He counsels clients regarding wage and hour issues, WARN laws, and federal and state labor laws.
John is a frequent lecturer on labor and employment topics. He takes the lead each year in organizing the firm’s Labor and Employment law update to the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. He also contributes to the Hinman, Howard & Kattell newsletter on labor and employment topics and drafts the group’s updates to clients.
