About John

Mr. Quinn is a 1976 graduate of Duquesne University School of Law. He is currently a partner in the Pittsburgh law firm of Portnoy & Quinn, LLC. He served two years as an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel with the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania from 1976 to 1978. Since that time, he has practiced in various areas of civil litigation, including product liability, medical malpractice, legal malpractice and employment law. He has been active in the Allegheny County Bar Association, serving as Chair of the Lawyers Referral Committee and the Civil Litigation Section. He was Index Editor from 1979-1981 for the Pittsburgh Legal Journal. Mr. Quinn is a Past President of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. He is past President of the St. Thomas More Society. He is a member of and has served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. He presently serves as the Comptroller for the organization.

Mr. Quinn has for several years been listed as a Pennsylvania “Super Lawyer” and can be found in “The Best Lawyers in America.” He is an active member in the Pennsylvania Association of Justice. He is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America currently serving as a state delegate. He has served as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Duquesne University School of Law. Mr. Quinn has lectured extensively for the Allegheny County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Institute, and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (formerly Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association), in the areas of insurance law, trial practice and legal ethics.
