About John

John F. Beasley, Jr., a partner and founding member of Hill & Beasley, LLP, represents both individuals and classes of employees in all manner of cases involving civil rights, employment discrimination, and other employment-related concerns. Since 1994, apart from his other practice activities, he has been involved in over two hundred employment and civil rights-related cases. Mr. Beasley has extensive litigation experience, has tried cases under the First and Eighth Amendments to the United States Constitution, Title VII, and other civil rights legislation, and has argued cases in both the Georgia Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Before establishing his practice devoted almost exclusively to representing plaintiffs in these areas, Mr. Beasley was a litigation attorney with the Atlanta office of Kilpatrick & Cody (now known as Kilpatrick Stockton, LLP). At Kilpatrick, he handled commercial and corporate litigation matters and participated in the Atlanta Legal Aid Project, representing clients pro bono both in and out of court.

Mr. Beasley received his J.D. in 1988 from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1984. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, American Bar Association Labor and Employment Section, the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the National Employment Lawyers Association, Georgia Affiliate (NELA-GA). He is frequently invited to speak on issues of employment law at seminars and conferences across the country. Mr. Beasley was president of NELA-GA from 1999-2000, is the current co-chair of its Amicus Committee, and has written or been involved in writing amicus briefs of diverse employment and civil rights issues in both federal and state courts. Since 1999, he has been the editor and principal writer for The Alliance, NELA-GA’s monthly newsletter covering current issues and decisions in the area of employment law and civil rights. He is admitted to practice before all Georgia state courts and in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
