John H. Friedhoff's practice areas include general business law with experience in the drafting of international contracts for U.S. outbound investors, including: mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, distribution of products and services abroad, purchase and sale of large machinery and equipment, foreign agency agreements, registration and licensing of intellectual property worldwide, foreign investment matters, including transfer pricing issues and registration of foreign capital and loans, the purchase and export of aircraft and the establishment of offshore banks, offshore corporations, offshore trusts and mutual funds, license agreements, processing letters rogatory, licensing of and counseling wire remittance businesses and representation of lenders in Export Credit Agency (Eximbank, EFIC etc.) transactions. Mr. Friedhoff also represents many foreign investors in the establishment of their companies in the U.S. and assisting foreign individuals in their estate and income tax planning as well as immigration concerns.
Mr. Friedhoff is Board Certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in International Law. (Board certified lawyers in international law deal with issues, problems, or disputes arising from any and all aspects of the relations between or among states and international organizations as well as the relations between or among nations of different countries or between a state and national of another state, including transnational business transactions, multinational taxation, customs, and trade. The term international law includes foreign and comparative law.)
Mr. Friedhoff is a frequent speaker on issues relating to foreign investment in Latin America and authors articles on foreign investment for publication abroad. He has been published in the Gazeta Mercantil, Icaro and US Lifestyle, has been interviewed for publication several times in Exame and made presentations in Latin America and the United States for such organizations as the World Trade Center, Centro de Estudios Norte-Americanos, the Florida-Brazil Institute, Grupo Mission and Latin American-Caribbean Productions on topics such as Mercosur Investment Strategies, Distribution Agreements in Latin America, Joint Ventures as a Foreign Investment Strategy, Offshore Trusts, Selection and Use of Foreign Counsel and Doing Business in Brazil.
