Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I recently handled and successfully settled a case worth more than $50,000,000 in approximately 4 months, because I was able to effectively communicate with opposing counsel who understood and appreciated the transparency and reliability of the financial information we provided to enable us to negotiate a mutually acceptable result for our clients.

How did you build a successful practice?

I have always been a student ("education-junkie") of the best legal education available, and have focused on listening to what my clients wanted to achieve and making sure their objectives were attainable, adjusting expectations to the achievable.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Honesty and the ability to tell you, the client, what you need to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear, so that you understand and have realistic expectations; also, responsiveness: returning phone calls quickly and being available when needed.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Having my clients' gratitude for caring about what is important to them.

Are you involved in your community?

I always have been involved in the community. I have served on the Boards of Easter Seals, The Tampa Bay History Center, The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts; and Bay Area Legal Services. I am a member of The Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and have served as President of the Tampa Vanderbilt Alumni.
