Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I represented a number of clients that lost money due to illegal or inappropriate investment advice by insurance agents and stock brokers, and was able to recoup the money they lost, in addition to getting my attorney fee paid by the defendants I have 25 years of practice in the area courts, know the judges and the court system, and work well with the defense bar and the mediators and case evaluators
How did you build a successful practice?
I am very easy to talk to. I am empathetic and understanding. The majority of my practice involves dealing with families that are dealing with age related problems, financial distress or injuries. I am very good at explaining complex legal strategies in easy to understand, layman language that makes my clients feel informed, knowledgeable and part of the process in solving their issues.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a lawyer that they feel listens to them and will take the time to explain things to them, no matter how long the explanation takes. Nothing frustrates a client more than the feeling that their lawyer is simply addressing "a" problem, rather than "their (the client's)" problem.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
The key components of a phone conversation are a clear statement of the problem, and a general statement of what the client expects or hopes to accomplish. By knowing the court and jurisdiction and the most likely method we will be using in our efforts to resolve the issue, I can better explain the expected time and costs of representation. Time, cost and a realistic view of the clients expectations and chances of attaining them are very important things to be on the same page with your client. I work hard at having my clients play devil's advocate early on, to get them to see the other side's position and expectations, as it helps us work together in creating a strong team to overcome what the other party will be advocating.
